First Peoples Fund

The First Peoples Fund (FPF) supports Native artists through its one-year programs Artists in Business Leadership and Cultural Capital Fellowship. The organization also recognizes Native artists through its Community Spirit Awards.

NACF support for FPF this year will focus on their Cultural Capital program, a fellowship that provides up to five artists per year the opportunity to further their important cultural work in their respective communities. The program is designed to support previous year Community Spirit Award recipients, and engage them in reinforcing their unique cultural contribution.

The operation support grant from NACF allowed FPF to expand the program to provide broader support for the artists. Through its Cultural Capital Program, FPF provided tradition bearers of tribal communities the opportunity to further their important cultural work and allowed the culture bearers to commit more time in teaching and sharing their ancestral knowledge and practices with other Native artists.
