The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation Visits Washington D.C.

 

NACF hosted a successful reception in Washington, DC, June 17th, 2010, at the National Museum of the American Indian. The event was highlighted by Lakota flute player Tiokasin Ghosthorse, the singing and Hula of the Hawaiian group Halau O’Aulani, and a special music/spoken word performance by poet Joy Harjo and Larry Mitchell. The event featured opening remarks by Kevin Gover - NMAI Director, and comments from Walter Echo-Hawk – NACF Board President, and Lulani Arquette – NACF, CEO/President who announced that NACF will make its first grants in the fall of this year. What an exciting time for NACF! Thanks to all who attended! We ask that you join us as we begin our long awaited journey in Native Arts philanthropy.
