FELLOWSHIPS

Powering artistic growth and magnifying the Native voice

Native Arts and Cultures Foundation Artist Fellows represent the cultural continuity of Native peoples in contemporary contexts, and are the creative voices of their communities. Their art brings greater visibility to the realities of their communities, addressing Native identity issues, and sharing the stories of hope, change, and inspiration.

Generous foundation support provided the opportunity for me to listen to elders’ stories, give voice to abused women, transform racism toward Ojibwe people as they exercise their treaty lefts into art, work with Native musicians I’ve never collaborated with before and provide learning experiences for all participants that brought the recording “Justice In Time” to life.
